Rich and Anonymous, Setting an Aspirational Hourly Rate, and How Can We Live a Good Life Every Day?
Rich and Anonymous
While there’s an “ideal” net worth for everyone, coming up with that number is no easy task.
No amount of money can make up for losing your privacy imo.
The opportunity cost of highly-paid athletes like Cristiano Ronaldo is the loss of privacy.
It’s the biggest reason why I’ve never wanted to be well-known or famous.
I enjoy walking down the streets freely without a hoard of people following me, asking me for a photo or autograph.
Wealth is a game you can never win.
The group you compare yourself to shifts with each salary increase you receive.
It’s a social debt that’s hard to measure but has a real impact on your happiness.
The way you maximize enjoying your money is by eliminating social debt.
The goal is to be rich and anonymous, not rich and famous.

Set an Aspirational Hourly Rate
No one is going to value you more than you.
Even though we might not feel it, our time is our most finite resource.
Money lost can be earned back, but time, once lost, cannot be gotten back.
Find out what’s your current hourly rate, and outsource all tasks that costs less than these. They are not worth your time and effort.
Set a very high aspirational hourly rate for yourself, and stick to it. It should seem and feel absurdly high. If it doesn’t, it’s not high enough.

How Can We Live a Good Life Every Day?
Hal Elrod, the creator of The Miracle Morning, shared his perspective on how to live our best lives every day.
His best day looks like this:
Spending time with his daughter
Working a bit on his business (his life’s work)
Connecting with his wife
Exercising, and eating healthy meals.
Step 1: Identify your top 5 values
Some tips on how to do so:
What do you need in your life to feel fulfilled? Or, what’s missing in your life that you need to feel fulfilled?
How do you like to spend your time, and what would you like to have more time for?
What do you enjoy spending money on?
If your life ended right now, what would you regret not having done, accomplished, experienced, and become?
Step 2: List actionable ways to honour your top values
Being fully present when interacting with someone—giving them my undivided attention
Listening with the intention to understand, not just to reply
Sharing my honest thoughts and feelings
Being open and vulnerable
Staying in touch with my closest friends and family by sending them messages and calling them regularly
Scheduling time every week for social activities
Step 3: Do something daily to embody your top values.
Every morning, look at your list of actions you created in step 2, and decide what you’ll do to honour your top values.
