I am a perpetual worrier.
My mind is filled with possibilities of all the worst-case scenarios.
What if I lose my job tomorrow?
What if I get chased out of my home without a roof over my head?
What if I get hit with a hefty medical bill?
So many ‘what ifs’, for events that may not materialise.
Are they legit concerns, or are they just in the mind?
Whatever the case, worry is a self-destructive force.
The 3 pillars to stave off worry
To worry less rely, we need to identify activities that satisfy 3 pillars:
Physical
Mental
Financial
For me, climbing and yoga fulfils the physical and mental aspect.
Both these activities combine physical and mental benefits, giving us the best of both worlds.
Not only do we get a good workout in, our mental health improves significantly too.
What we’re now lacking is the financial side.
Diversify our income
In a capitalistic society, we need money for sustenance, to go about our daily lives. Whatever profession we’re in, relying only on one source of income is a recipe for disaster.
It’s like a business having only 1 customer that drives majority of its revenue.
Scary, isn’t it?
Creating multiple streams of income is no longer an option nowadays.
I see it as a form of self-care.
Of course, this takes time, and HARD WORK.
It’s the combination of time and hard work that makes most people give up.
We diversify our investment portfolios, so why not do the same for our income?
