Stuck, lost, and directionless, I sat down to have a conversation with one of my mentors.
I was demoralised, looking for solutions to my lack of “progress” in my side hustle.
Progress is subjective.
Most people measure progress by monetary rewards. However, it’s not the only measure of progress.
Little did I know, the progress that I made was clarity.
With clarity, it’s easier to devise an action plan to work towards your goals.
As with anything in life, coming up with an action plan is no easy feat. But first, we need to identify our goals.
The problem is, our goals change over time. Our current goals can look different a few years down the road.
After some brainstorming, I’ve come up with 4 of my biggest goals.
1. Generate enough passive income to live comfortably
Passive income has been divisive topic among the financial community. Some swear by it, while others are disbelievers.
The answer lies somewhere in between. For me, there is nothing that is truly “passive”.
No matter how “passive” an income source might seem, some upfront work and maintenance is always needed.
2. Having freedom to explore new places
I am grateful that my job allows me the flexibility to work from anywhere. This means that I can work while travelling the world.
I appreciate that I am in the minority camp, enjoying a privilege that not many have.
The only limitation, of course, is that travelling requires money.
But, there is no need to go overseas to explore new places, you can also do so in your home country.
3. Build an animal shelter for cats and dogs
My love for pets, specifically cats, started when I stayed with one in Melbourne for a month.
In the past, I didn’t use to like pets. I never found them to be anything special, and didn’t understand why someone would cry over them.
It’s only after I started living with one that changed my entire perspective about owning pets.
You never know what you like (or dislike) until you’ve experienced it for yourself.
Like humans, animals are also living things. Living with one has given me more empathy for them.
4. Be someone who is known for being grounded and resilient
Being refers to the state or existence of self.
Whenever I am in a negative state or situation, I constantly ask myself “What is the being I want to be?”
Yoga is one exercise that helps keep me grounded and evoke feelings of positivity.
